I don't know if I have mentioned the HSX.com web site before so I thought I would take just a minute and point any film (or TV) buffs who might enjoy this online game in that direction. Basically, you sign up (it's free) and get a pot of virtual cash ($2,000,000). You use that cash to buy, sell, short & cover various 'stocks' related to movies and TV shows. You are predicting success (or failure) of the movies, TV shows, actors, etc. The rules are set up to mimic the actual stock exchange so if you play that market (with real money), you will understand the lingo instinctively. If you are not familiar with the actual stock exchange, the HSX.com can actually teach you a bit about how markets work in the real world and allow you to learn without the risk of loosing your retirement fund.
You can buy stocks in upcoming movies, essentially betting on how much money you think that movie will make in it's first four weeks at the box office. You can buy stocks against the projected opening weekend gross as well. You can buy stocks that are valued based on an individual's (actor, director, etc.) last five movies performance. You can buy stocks essentially betting on what movies will be nominated for (and win) major awards. You can buy stocks based on the performance of new TV shows premiering each season. It's kind of fun to put your (virtual) money where your mouth is and predict how movies will do. I use it to track long terms projects I am interested: how likely they are to ever get made, how well they might do, etc.
Are there any other HSX.com players on gg.com?
Anyway, if you want to join up, I am Rotogar over there (old handle) and my account is up to H$25,106,114.70 though that value obviously fluctuates daily as my predictions either pan out and fail. There is a referral reward for signing up new members, so if you are interested and want to help pad my acount, let me know!

I would be more than happy to send you an invite.
