With all the familial relations already in play, I decided to list them (in relation to Jesse Carver) to help me keep track of what's already taken. If I made any mistakes, please let me know.
Jeremy Carver - son [HerbertGeorge] Jaime Carver - nephew, son of youngest brother Jamie Carver [Frostchilde] Jason Carver - son [Cyclone] Jackson Carver - nephew, son of only sister [Reaver Reader] ...No one has seen her since. She left her only child, Jaime (named after her father), behind. @ reefwood, Jaime is Jesse's niece. @ Ronin, I am leaning toward pre-Miranda only because in brings us closer to the end of the War.

So, here's the character idea:
Thomas Carver is Jesse's third son (Jesse never did like the whole "J" thing- that was his wife's idea, after all, so when they had their third child, Jesse wanted to name him). When the war broke out, he went to fight for the Independents, he didn't like the idea of all 'em bigwigs calling the shots in the entire 'Verse. A skilled pilot and wheelman, he worked mostly as a blockade runner, though he occasionally saw real space combat. After a particularly spectacular mission, he was given command of a ship, the Venture, and he was commissioned as an officer. Even though the war is over, Thomas (Tom to his friends, Tommy to his older relatives, and maybe some cousins) still hasn't given up hope that the Alliance's hegemony can be broken.
As for his personality, Tom is a straight-shooter, and has a hard time lying. He is a Christian man, and has been so since the start of the war: he promised God that if he made it through alive, he would do whatever it said in the 'Good Book.' Since then, that deal-making has turned into something real. Tom always has his Bible on hand. However, that doesn't mean he's a pacifist. Tom takes the passages to love your neighbor as yourself and to help the less fortunate as permission to do what is necessary, which sometimes involves killing. He is also a bit of a joker. He loves to lighten the mood and relieve tension with jokes, including the occasional practical joke. Family is very important to him, but if he believes that one (or several, or all) of them is doing something wrong, he doesn't hesitate to confront them. Also, despite his military experiance, Tom still can't stand the sight of blood.
Update on the book situation: my copy of the rulebook should be here by Friday or Saturday, Monday at the latest.
As for the timeframe, I don't care too much either way.

I think I'm more inclined to a pre-Miranda timeline as well.
Thought I'd update the family tree as well...
Jeremy Carver - son, Swindling Shepherd [HerbertGeorge] Jaime Carver - niece, daughter of youngest brother Jamie Carver, ?? unknown role [Frostchilde] Jason Carver - son, Good Son Browncoat [Cyclone] Jackson Carver - nephew, son of only sister, Pissed off Doctor [Reaver Reader] Thomas Carver - son, Straight Shootin' Wheelman [Project Icarus]

We have a home, I'm putting the "rooms" together now...we can move character discussion into that when it's done!

Probably a day late, but here's relatively complete character idea... had to tweak it from the original form to make it Greenhorn... originally it was for a different Veteran game (Veteran version had Agility 10, the Fighting Type Asset, 10 in pistols and 12 in seduction) and the story was of course a bit different... though the basics were the same - kind of Marshall Dillion/Miss Kitty's daughter in a space opera concept. Alicia Carver AGL-d8 STR-d6 VIT-d6 ALT-d8 INT-d10 WIL-d10 INIT-d8 + d8 LP-16 Artistry-d4 Athletics-d6 Guns-d6 Influence-d6/Seduction-d10 Knowledge-d4 Mechanical Engineering-d6/Mechanical Repair-d10 Perception-d6 Perfomance-d4 Technical Engineering-d6/Technical Repair-d8 Unarmed Combat-d4 Traits Allergy (shellfish) – Major Complication Allure Major Asset Credo (When Opportunity Knocks…) Minor Complication Highly Educated Minor Asset Loyalty (Family, Friends, Former Browncoats) Minor Complication Memorable Minor Complication Prejudice (Alliance) Minor Complication History Alicia is the youngest biological child of Jesse Carver, though saying that she is his daughter would be a bit of a stretch, as by all accounts, he never met the young lady. She is the daughter of a retired companion known only as Elena, whom apparently had been a very dear friend of Jesse in his younger years before he married, though they had parted ways under poor circumstances. A few years after the birth of Jesse’s youngest, Elena showed up on the Carver’s doorstep requesting permission to scan of Jesse’s D.N.A. so that she could have her own child. After a heated discussion with his wife, Jesse surprisingly agreed, noting that he always kept his word, even the word he gave when he still a damn fool. That was the last the Carvers ever heard from Elena, who apparently gave birth to her own baby girl later that year. Alicia (recently Alicia Carver) was raised by her mother in a villa near the temple until around the age of twelve when she was supposed to be accepted into the Companion’s Guild. Unfortunately, preliminary medical scans revealed that Alicia was born with severe food allergies that would undoubtedly preclude her from functioning in the most elite of social settings. No matter how lovely, a girl, who could not go to a stylish ball without risking also going into shock and dying in front of her client, simply could not become a Companion. Disappointed that her daughter would never follow in her footsteps, the headstrong Elena decided to formerly retire from the guild (rather than becoming a teacher as she had planned), so that she raise her daughter elsewhere. As it turned out, elsewhere ended up being quaint, backwater world called Phoebe, out along the rim, far removed from the luxuries of the temple. Despite the rustic nature of their surroundings, Elena raised Alicia with the same education and principles she had been taught as young girl, in hopes, that while not a Companion, Alicia.could still become a strong young woman. Little did she know that the Verse had every intention of helping that along, as the Unification War spilled out across their little corner of the black. At only sixteen years of age and against her mother’s wishes, Alicia threw in with the Browncoats as part of the local miltia. She, along with her friends, was promptly jailed in a special detention center after the Alliance drove the Independents off Phoebe. Not officially being enlisted Independents, they did not fall under the technical category of prisoners of war. Around her nineteenth birthday, after some two years of incarceration without trial, Alicia aided in a prison break that demolished the entire detention center on Phoebe along with the handful of Alliance officers that had been left as guards. The incident wasn’t even noticed by Alliance Military until sometime after the end of the war and even then no investigation was pursued. Many years have passed since the war came and went on Phoebe. In that time, Alicia has grown into a stronger woman than even her mother could have hoped. Elena herself passed away due a stroke roughly a year into Alicia’s imprisonment during the war. Alicia still blames herself for that. Only with the passing of Jesse Carver has the existence of Alicia been revealed to other children, as the old man left mention of her in his final will and testament. How he managed to discover her name and keep track of her over the years is a total mystery, as Alicia claims to have never met, or even been told anything about, her father. Nonetheless, with her mom gone and most of her old friends scattered across the Verse, Alicia dumped what few credits she had hopping a transport and following up on the communication left by the man claiming to be her biological father.

Accepted! Just take another look at the skills set and let me know if that is how you want to go, the reason I ask is with her education her knowledge skill seems a bit low. Now I agree you can make an argument either way, just making sure that this is the final as you see her. I would also like to add, that you have been introduced to the family, and we have had all the first awkward meetings, though there should be many more.

I have six players now, and that is what I was looking for...but that doesn't mean that this is the end of the story.
IF there are others who would want in, then I can start a waiting list. IF there are many more I could spin a second story involving the Carver Clan...could be fun.

Looked at this out of curiosity (Serenity is cool ), and just wanted to say that it is funny, that both female characters have a striking similarity with Megan Fox. Have fun! Bye Thanee

Yeah, that would be cool. I actually have a character ready, which could possibly fit in (with some fiddling with her background, which I just did). Sending you the sheet via PM for your consideration. Bye Thanee

Just caught this one on the rebound from another game that went south.
I'm a big fan of the 'Verse and am definitely interested in joining. Let me know if you need a character from me even if I'm on a waiting list.
