Adam- Moving toward mist monster |HP-51/51 |Spells- Protection from Evil (+2 AC deflection bonus, +2 to saves, blocks effects to possess or exercise mental control), Shield of Faith (+2 AC deflection bonus), Eagle's Splendor (Char +4), Mage Armor (+4 AC Armor), Bless (+1 to hit, +1 to Fear Saves)

Adam watched in horror as the monster inflicted pain and torment on his companions.  He noticed that the monster seemed affected by Lorelei's magic.  He was hopeful that Ioan would use divine magic as well.  He saw Hassid charge toward the creature.  It was the correct move for him and the group would soon understand if normal weapons did any substantial harm.

Adam pauses and casts a spell.  Close to the mist a magical broadsword appears and attacks the mist.  From his vantage the attack seemed to cause no damage.

Will Save (1d20+11=13)

And suddenly in his mind's eye Ioan is home... home among the humans, wearing a cloak that allows him to appear as one of them. His life is full of friends and companions. He takes a wife, and she bears him twins... who are as horrible to behold as any half-Vistani Ioan has ever known. The midwife draws a knife from her skirts, a blade perhaps held against the possibility of breach, or deformity. The babes are not her target. With a scream of "VISTANI DEVIL!" she plunges it deep into Ioan's chest... missing his heart, but killing the heart of him.

He staggers back, his happy life blackening and peeling away from his true memories like burnt parchment lifting and curling from the stone of the hearth. The final image is his loving dream-wife rising to stand amid the mess of birthing, reaching out to him, and twisting the knife.

Ioan snaps back to the real world. No time has passed. It was just a dream. It was just a dream. Just a dream.

He staggers back and there is a ragged pain in his chest as he draws breath. He coughs bright, arterial blood... just a dream perhaps, but his mind made it real enough, tearing and collapsing his lungs. The pain brings tears to his eyes, but he cannot afford to scream. He is sure that this next breath will be his last regardless of what he chooses to invoke through it. No howl of pain, and no time for selfish cures. Death, then, but death well-spent. He inhales.

That's two breaths. Just two breaths since he was struck. And in them a lifetime...

Ioan exhales, invoking Searing Light again, the syllables of his battle-prayer given shape in fresh spray. As before, divine light bursts from Ioan's palms, tearing a howling path through the mists.
Ranged Touch - Searing Light (1d20+7=16)
Damage vs. Light-sensitive Undead (8d8=35)

Unlike before, the light illuminates Ioan, and makes clear the extent of his injuries. In that flash all can see the pallor of death in his face, the abandonment of hope in his eye, and the wanton splatter of his life's blood from his nose down to his knees.

Marius running to save Iaon |AC 16 (force); HP 37/37|

Seeing his arrow pass through the mist creature shocked the archer, the expression was etched clearly upon his face.  Marius skill had always been his best asset.  Marius turns in horror as Ioan suddenly coughs up blood.  Without thinking he grabs a potion and runs toward the gallant cleric.  What ever that thing is it would pay dearly should his new friend fall.  "Not again," he shouted without realizing as his mind filled of images of his dad in his arms ...

Hassid | HP 61 | In combat |Really pissed off and scared for Ioan

Hassid was not satisfied that his blade did not find purchase, and he knew quickly his folley for coming so close to the greature and grabbing its attention.  He fully understood though the folly of his actions when he felt it.

It happened in but a moment, but something dark.  That was the best way to describe it Dark. Something dark creeped into his mind, and then all he could feel was pain.  The pain was such that he had not felt in a long while.  It was not something that he could ignore, nothing like slices on the skin that a blade creates.  This was utter agony, with countless voices screaming in pain and longing.  One thing that Hassid knew. This thing longed for him to join them in their endless agonies.

He might have been held there forever if not for something, a bright light, a beacon to cling to.  The pain intensified for a moment before the darkness began to leave his mind.  Though he could hear a distinct call of "Take the Cursed one Next". His mind began to scramble as he realized that he was no longer the focus of this thing.

His resolve began to come back together as he realize that Ioan would not stand against this thing for long.  He then swung his blade in fast fluid, his blade slid through at first, but on his cross swing something took, and Hassid hoped that it would be enough to bring his things attention back to himself.

Yemam | HP 54/69 | Tortured by his thoughts

Will Save = 11

Yemam watches as almost no attack do anything to this creature when suddenly a bright light appears on the creature.  The light blinds Yemam for a second.  The scout rubs his eyes and they clear, but he is no longer in the present.  Instead, Yemam sees the near future.

The skies are darker, almost black, as is the field.  Yemam has not moved from his current spot.  Hassid, or what is left of him, lies next to the mist that is this evil creature.  ::If only I could have helped::, the scout thinks.  He looks back at where the rest of the group stood.

Gabriel, oh that poor mystical creature.  He is tore to pieces, most likely the creature did not like his protective magic on the group.  Adam is on the lies face down on the ground...killed in mid stride.  Lorelei and Marius are also dead, their faces filled with fear.  Their final moments etched on their faces for eternity.  And Ioan...poor Ioan.  He suffered the most wrath from this creature.  The priest is left alive, barely, but driven mad through magic.

"If only I would have helped...but I was too much of a coward. Well...this is enough...I do not deserve to live." At that Yemam takes his rapier and drives it deep into his own body, hoping to hit his heart.  "If I can't be counted on to help those closest to me...I don't deserve to LIVE."

Damage = 15

Just as his blade enters his chest, Yeamam snaps out of his vision.  He is back in the present, the situation unchanged, but he did drive his blade through his body.  Yemam pulls his rapier out and prepared to help Hassid.

I edited my spoiler content just in case I did get an action...just figured I'd mention it if you missed it.

Yemam got hit by a slightly different effect than Hassid or Ioan.  But Yemam does still get an action on his own initiative.

Hassid | Castle Ravenloft Foyer | Fighting Stone Dragons | HP 103 | AC Flat Footed 14 After Action 24

Hassid remained weary as he entered the foyer, he walked in slowly, his blade before him, though it might have been his imagination but he believed that the stone dragon blinked!  Hassid had but a moment to act.  Striking out at the stone dragon.  From before him he twisted his blade and cut under the stone dragon.

Init = 14
To hit = 17
Damage = 33

If init before Stone Dragon 5 ft step to G13 & attack, if not then block beasty as best I can, take a hit if I have to only to still attack.

Marius moving at snails pace | Firing his bow | AC 16 force; AC 12 flat-foot | HP 37/37 |

Looking behind him and staring at the shadows tensed Marius' muscles and slowed his reaction time.  Marius stepped to the side (E12) to allow the others access to the room then let two arrows fly at the dragon.

Initiative (1d20+1=4)

Ioan is startled when he realizes the statues are moving. "Normal" stuff can see us just fine. Right. Animated statues are normal around here...

Adam  Castle Ravenloft Foyer| 61/61 hp | AC 20, FF AC19| Spells 5/5, 5/5, 4/4, 2/2

As the gargoyles moved toward the rock Adam was taken back.  He heard Ioan mutter something about "normal" and "animated statues are normal".  He realized that his standard was of combat thinking was the broad battlefield tactics used there.  Here, in this place, he would need to think and act more like a skirmisher or guerilla fighter.  The quaters would be tight and attacks coming from any direction.

As the statue moved forward and he attempted to draw his greatsword he hoped this miscalculation didn't cost him too much blood and pain.

Initiative- 1d20+1=14
