Combat for Act III

[Ioan Nicolae Costache]

Ioan invokes Cure Serious Wounds and rushes to Abrud, the healing power swirling visibly around his hand. He claps the hand to Abrud's back, and the Bard braces as life energy rushes up and down his spine.

Adam was shocked to see the vampire turn to mist and then reappear.  It was strange, but a inkling in the back of his mind probed him that this was important.  He replayed the events in his mind.  Hassid dealt enough damage to kill the vampire and drive it to its mist form.  After this Marius hit it with additional damage and the monster reappeared out of its mist form. 

A smile spread across Adam's face.  By dealing additional damage Marius had stopped the vampires misty retreat to its home/coffin to recover.  They finally had a chance to kill this thing here and now.  Holding his greatsword by one hand and standing up he reached into his pack and grabbed one of the stakes that Abrub had given them.  He ran to the prostrate vampire and plunged it into the beast's heart.

He called to the Marius to save magical spells so that when the dwarf turned to mist he could also damage it and bring it back to its physical form.  He looked as Hassid attempted to recover his blade.  "Go help with the dwarf and I'll finish off this beast"

Marius wasn't completely sure as to what happened with the vampire, he knew his magic had hidden abilities, but to return a vampire to solid form? He searched his mind for answer then head Adam's instructions ... "got it!"

Adam brought Marius back into the fray, he scanned the battlefield - Hassid's was struggling to regain his blade and Marius understood, he had a similar bond with his dad's bow.  Yemam and Ioan were already on their way to Abrud's aid.  Adam, stake in hand charing toward the vampire ...

Marius turned his attention to Abrud and gazed at the dwarf and his expression - mad with pleasure - Marius knew that look, once in in the woods of Drakon he and dad met such a man, completely ravished in the pain he inflicted - dad made him memorize each line.  "Hey psycho, you like pain ..." Marius focused his fiery magic - Scorching Ray - "then you'll love this!" and released a ray of pure fire from his hand.  Marius watched as the fire burned the dwarf crispy, "Medium-rare ... Hazza!"

Hassid | 123/123 hp | AC 24 | Attempting to stop the retreating Dwarf

Hassid now with his sword in hand, nodding a brief thanks to Adam who had assisted in the release of the blade again danced across the terrain attempting to close with the Dwarf...and after that the wolves.  As he closed again Hassid slashed at the Diminutive creature with care, aware that this creature was not without defense but had nearly dealt crippling blows to his friends that without the aid of Ioan perhaps may have caused their ultimate demise.

Tumble = 26 (including the =10 to tumble at full speed)

Yemam's body was shutting down as too many wounds were taking their toll.  The scout began to worry, but saw that the others were begining to help as well.  The scout settled back and got into a defensive position - He could not take many more hits and survive.

"What's the matter ... I thought you liked pain?" Marius boasted proudly, he couldn't stand creatures that enjoyed causing pain on others.  But like all bullies, once they tasted their own medicine they fled.

Hassid was in hot pursuit and the rain plus the trees made it difficult to aim, "can't chance it!" Marius concentrated - Magic Missile - three force arrows surrounded him.  The archer pointed his finger and the arrows sped toward their target, flying over Hassid's head before striking the Dwarf unerringly, "stick around, my friend with the long sharp blade still wants to play," Marius taunted.

Adam watches as Hassid charges the dwarf.  He hoped the warrior arrived quickly enough to stop the menance's exit into the forest.  Adam knew that if Hassid caught the dwarf he would be dead in moments.  Adam readied a spell to assualt the vaporous form that would arise when Hassid finished his work.

Hassid | 138/138 hp | AC 24 | Attacking the Eel in deep water.

Hassid catches a motion in the water and begins to make his way toward it bringing down his blade.  He was not happy that his movement was hampered, but still he managed to move with a deadly grace.

Move to K10.  If I manage to move each round it looks like it will take me 4 rounds to make it to the shore.
Fort Save = 23 (I have not spotted her yet, but I want to get this out of the way)

"Steady, friends! Steady!"

Ioan invokes "Bless" and moves closer to the shore as quickly as he can. Party members are now +1 on attacks and on saves vs fear.

Marius takes a step back (I9) away from the eels, making a break for it does not seem like a good idea right now, instead he summons three force arrows - chain missile - and sends them flying to the eel Hassid just struck, all three send ripples through its flesh.  The magical force arrows ricochet and strike the remaining eels, two striking the eel at K6, and one striking the eel at E11.

"ok my friends, lets send these things back to the deep hell from which they came" the group had survived much and Marius wanted to continue their confidence.

Yemam examined the battlefield and sloshed through the water hoping to bring himself to a better position drawing the sunsword in the process (K12).  "Locke you see anything out there?"

Ioan struggles to keep his gorge down at the sight of the Swamp Hag. He again moves towards the shore, bringing his hammer down hard on the eel facing Marius. The splashing obscures the action, but it feels like a solid hit.
