Hassid looks over the gear and nods then walks away.  He is afraid that if he were to speak, he would become emotional, and if he became emotional he may cause undue violence.  It was better to focus on other things and not stew on the Dwarf.

Hassid used the limited fire to brew a weak tea, it was better than nothing to help fight off the morning cold.

Marius walks over to the fire to warm up, and at least dry his hands, he pats Ioan on the back, "thank you friend."  The archer takes some bread and lets it warm on the small fire before eating, adding a little cheese for taste.

Marius grins at Yemams comment, "it would help, I would be able to to fully draw the elfs bow that we recovered some time ago, plus lessen the load on my back."

Finally he turns to Adam and Ioan, "any ideas on how to proceed on the identification of the medallion?
Perhaps we could ask the dwarf, but somehow he's not in the best of talking moods.  He seems to be reveling in his own anguish.  Somehow I don't think hurting him will have any effect, he likes pain too much

Ioan stokes the fire a bit, and enjoys the tea Hassid prepared. Weak or not, it's warm in a way the fire just isn't.

He looks over at the dwarf. "I did a horrible thing this morning. When I pleaded with the Morninglord for the day's invocations, I asked to be allowed to Speak with the Dead. So... yeah. One way or another, you're going to answer some questions."

Yemam thanked Hassid for the meal and the tea.  It did wonders to have a warm thing to drink and a non-empty stomach.

Looking at the dwarf, Yemam felt a little weirded out.  Thinking for a moment.  "Um...I have a question.  I am not medically skilled at all, but why would he develop a fever over night?  We didn't have any poisons.  Does anyone think Strahd already got to his mind?"

Marius shares a meal and the fire with his friends.  Maybe it wasn't the comfort of the mansion but they were together and alive and not even Strahd could take that away from them.

Marius sat by the fire enjoying his bread and cheese, and began to inspect the medallion in closer detail - maying something in it's shape or writing will give a clue to it's function he thought to himself.

As Ioan says these words Hassid stands up at the fire and pulls out his small oddly curved sword and in a dramatic flourish slices the dried meat into small easy to work with cutlets for breakfast.

The medallion has no writing on it.  Just a golden disk - not even gold, just a bronze alloy.  With a carving of a sun on it.  Add odd choice for a vampire to wear - certainly.

The group all fidgets and fusses.  And just before someone get really in the dwarf's face.  He speaks up, "Let's get this over with.  I won't be much help.  Don't know much.  But I'll answer your questions as long as you promise to do me in quick when the time comes.  Do I have your word?"

There is no emotion in his voice.  No fear.  No anger.  Just a hint of loss.

Hassid looks to the Dwarf with a cold stare, and nods to Adam, it would seem that he would be happy to offer what mercy he could with his blade when the time comes.

Yemam sees the between Ioan, Hassid, and Adam the dwarf will be throughly interviewed.  The scout moves over to Marius and thinks about the medallion's purpose.

"Could it have anything to do with the fact that the madman was not afraid of Ioan's divine power, nor was he afraid of the Sunsword?  Maybe the Demon Lord figured out a magical protection for his one?"

Yemam had beaten Marius to the punch but that was ok, they were a team, "my thoughts exactly.  Abrud can you recall anything about sun medallions that offer protection from the sun? Or anything about sun medallions for that matter?"

Marius turns to Hassid as if to offer acknowledgment then looks at the dwarf and bows his head ...

Adam responds to the dwarf.

"You have my word that your end will be quick and merciful.  Either I or Hassid will be your executioner.  I leave the choose to you."

Adam then begins questioning the dwarf about his knowledge of Strahd, his minions and any current plans.

"How many vampire followers does Strahd have?  List the names of the ones you've assocaited with, seen and heard of.  Do they all live at the castle?"
"Do you know of any vampires or Strahd's minion's that live outside the castle?"  "Where is their location?"
"What other allies does Strahd have beyond his vampires and their minions?"
"What is the function of the sun medallion wore by the vampire we slew?"
"Have you been to Castle Ravenloft?  Can you draw of map of the places you've been?"
"How does Strahd defend his castle?"  What creatures and monsters roam the halls?"
"Do you know what happened to the Burgeomaster's daughter Ireena?"
"Have you ever heard of Fanes or special places that give Strahd power?"
“How does Strahd normally deal with his enemies?”  Why did he send you to attack us?”

When Adam finished his questions he asked the dwarf if he’d like a final meal or some time to think before the end.  He asked if he’d like a burial.  He finally asked him who he wanted to be his executioner.

"One more offer, since it's only fair. Do you want me to protect your grave, so you can't be forced to return to serve anyone beyond death?"

Marius looked at the dwarf and spoke softly, almost hoping he would listen, "I would take Ioan on his offer.  Strahd makes you suffer in life, imagine what he would do in ... well, your un-life!"

OOC
I forgot to mention in my last post.  I'm fine with how the loot has been divided.  Adam got a great sword and armor early in the game so I'm happy other could get some items that can help them.  I'm really looking for something to boost charisma or wisdon.
