Background:
Noah Andrews believed. A devout and prodigal Templar, the holy warriors that serve as the right hand of justice for the Vatican, Noah quickly rose through the ranks. Brought up since birth to never question the Word and the Law, trained to perfection in art of Sanctus Tempestas, Latin for "Holy Storm" the stylistic combat that made any master a one man army with his two pistols. With a beautiful and loving wife, a successful career, and the protection of his Faith; Andrews was in line to become a legend, a Templar Superior with the world ahead of him. One day, word came down that Antares MegaCorp was launching a covert assault on a rival company's Aerotech branch located in the Reiser Plaza. Due to the double dealings and complex corporate operations, it was decided that a counter strike against Antares was required. Noah was chosen to lead the strike team and more importantly subdue and arrest the leader of the opposing force, a man by the name of Kais Jelvid rumored to be a PSICHO as the men put it. The attack went according to plan, the Novatech forces he was assigned to detonated an EMP blast which took down the vast majority of the Antares squad. Noah has just located his target Jelvid when multiple explosions rocked the building, Kais took off and launched himself out one of the windows. Right as Noah was about to do the same, another blast caught him and luckily, threw him out of the building as well. The next thing he remembers is waking up in a Novatech's medical lab, his life having been saved my the cybernetic augmentations that now granted him a boost to his already considerable combat skills. While grateful, Noah began to question the Order he was raised in as he discovered that it was the Vatican who ordered he undergo the procedure even though their strict teachings condemn the practice of such things. The more he investigated what happened that fateful night, the more the hypocrisy seemed to grow as did his disillusion with was he thought was his, if the meaning of the word can be stretched that far, family. He soon learned that there were other players involved that night at the Plaza and there were even rumors he had been sent there to die. Whispers of a massively interconnected corporate battle that resulted in incident reached his ears and for the first time in his life, Noah began to question his Faith. His wavering resolve and dedication did not go unnoticed and the Vatican conspired with Novatech out of fear of exposure to remove him as a threat. He was summarily brought in on false charges, sentenced to life in the isolation cell of the world's most dangerous prison. Unknown to him, his wife (newly pregnant) was assassinated to leave no trail, and his memory was wiped. He spent countless days in a box, without knowing who he was or what had happened, until as fate would have it he found freedom...

The Nanites are too numerous and small to destroy with normal means, but they can be disabled by certain area affecting powers like an explosive Energy Blast or an Electromagnetic Pulse. Any hits suffered from area affecting energy attacks cause his nano-machines to be unusable for one round for each hit of damage you suffer as they work to repair themselves and replenish their numbers. (Common/Moderate; -3p)

BACKGROUND

Gideon was originally a special forces soldier, a year ago he was gravely injured in North Africa. He was rescued by his squad, but had sustained sever injuries. His comatose body was acquired by Antares MegaCorp, to be used for a nanotech experiment. Dr. Victor Jeorge was heading the research in using nanites to repair tissue damage. He was driven to perfect the nanites programming, his research was decades ahead of anyone else, but then he was motivated to save his daughter Jessica. She had been wounded in a terrorist attack and was in a coma her body wasting away. Gideon was to be his first human trial, Dr. Jeorge animal tests had worked perfectly. Mr. Balzer, the corporate executive the doctor reported to, had pushed him to conduct human tests and  supplied the doctor with Gideon.

Gideon was injected with nanites and closely monitored. One wrong line of code in their programming and the micro machines could tear the man apart at the molecular level. Dr. Jeorge had programmed the nanites to only scan, report their findings and proposed solution, they where to not operate until he approved it. When all went well he slowly let the machines do either work, one micro operation at a time. The process was slow, had they been set loss to work collectively with no outside interference, the work that took weeks could have been done in hours.

Two weeks later Gideon was revived and fully healed, the human trial had been a complete success. Gideon once again whole and grateful to Dr. Jeorge for his recovering. He would spend the next few weeks with the Doctor being constantly monitored. They grew to be friends and would even visit Jessica to spend time with the girl. Dr. George telling Gideon all about his life before the attack and his future plans once daughter  was healed. Gideon was also put back into operation working with the Specteres., he escort them to and from operations. He had extensive tactical training and was used as needed. He befriended one of the Spectors, Kais Jelvid. These men had endured harsh training and most had survived with little humanity except for Kais.

At this point with their work done Dr. Jeorge wanted to deactivate the nanites and allow Gideon's body to expel them, but Antares MegaCorp had wanted to take the experiment further. They wanted additional code introduced that would have the nanites enhance the host and keep the machines active within Gideon perpetually repairing any damage. Dr. Jeorge refused, but when his daughter was taken and told that she would only be returned for a nanite treatment once Dr. Jeorge complied, he had little choice. With he safety of Jessica at stake Gideon volunteered as well, he would endure anything to save the innocent child. The next month proved incredibly painful, machines went to work adjusting his physical capabilities. He became faster, stronger and could heal quickly from virtually any injury. Mr. Balzer ordered tests be run to discover the full extent of hi regeration abilities, Gideon was cut, burned, electrocuted, etc and the machines repaired him, no injury was to great.

He once again of on missions with the Spectors, but now he was their guard. Keeping them safe if anything went wrong, the muscle to complement their mental powers. Months later they still had not returned the Doctor's daughter, always pushing it back to one more mission. Until they finally made a deal, the Dr. Jeorge would give over all his research n exchange for Jessica. Kais warned Gideon that is was a lie, they meant to kill the doctor, the two friends discover where Jessica had been kept. Gideon informed Dr. Jeorge who destroyed all his research except for one nanite injection. Together they fled and recovered his daughter, she responded perfectly to the treatment.

Gideon is now a rogue, tired of dealing self interested corporations he vowed to do what he could to bring them down.

August 05, 2070
The new clone is reaching maturation. Just this morning they were transferring her into her final tank. This makes the eleventh one and so far I am no closer to achieving my goal of creating a biological computer system that combines the sheer analytical abilities of a machine but also the capacity for creative thinking of humans. I am beginning to wonder if my theories are sound. No, I can not allow myself to think like that. I am positive that this will work. I just need the right combination of genetics that will accept full integration with a computer.
 
August 08, 2070
Now I begin the most delicate part of the procedure. The previous subjects all experienced either massive organ failure, as if simply willing themselves to die, or extreme psychosis from sense deprivation. My best efforts only managed to prolong their existence to a few months at most before they became unusable.
 
The subject is currently being heavy sedated which has eased her transition into her new environment. It's amazing how quickly the body will readjust itself. I have heard it being described as something like a return to the womb. Nutrients, muscle stimulation to prevent atrophy, and waste removal are all handled automatically. At any rate she is as comfortable as can be expected. It's hard to believe that if all things go well subject 005-291 will be the core component to the most powerful computer on earth.
 
Tomorrow we will begin the first of many operations that will allow her to connect directly with our computer systems or any other for that matter. It is a very delicate surgery involving the brain and spinal chord but given our experience with the other ten she should be relatively free of complications. I want to avoid another 005-285.
 
October 22, 2070
The operations have been completed. Subject 005-291 is, as would be expected, in a lot of pain. In the brief moments of consciousness between her removal from the tank and the anesthesia for the various operations she appears confused more than anything. The ones before her had a stronger fight reaction and were angrier. I will take this as a positive sign that she will adjust more readily to her life.
 
February 08, 2071
The healing process has finished, the swelling and scar tissue healing nicely, and I have ordered her off of sedation. We initiated a link between our test system and her new augmentations. The connection was near instant with about a 50% sync rate. Needless to say my team was ecstatic. The highest other initial reading was only 30%. Her mind is apparently as open to the changes as I suspected. As long as her body doesn’t reject the implants this project might very well succeed.
 
Over the next few months we will begin teaching her how to use her new abilities. She is, after all, a blank slate, having never been taught anything in her life. Through our experience with the others we have developed some very well constructed uploads that should tell her everything she needs to know on how to interact with us and what is expected of her. I imagine this is very much like what a telepath feels when they read someone’s mind.
 
February 28, 2071
Already we have reportable results. Subject 005-291 has continued to exceed ahead of the curve set by the others and currently there is no signs of rejection. It appears that our goals may very well be accomplished with this girl. There are so many preparations to make, so many things that she must be taught, I can barely contain my excitement!
 
July 12, 2071
The training has been at a feverish pace. Her mind takes to topics like water to a sponge. At this moment she easily operating at a genius level and her knowledge base is limited solely by what we give her access to. Tomorrow we begin moving from general knowledge to knowledge of a more specific nature. Paradigm Interactive does not want a simple database. They want the ability to manipulate information, to control what the people and perhaps even the other mega-corporations perceive as the truth. As the saying goes, repeat a lie often enough and it will become the truth.

I am amazed at how far my project has advanced.  In these past months she has managed to write a series of code breakers, viruses, and hacking tools the likes of which I have never seen before.  The nature by which these designs can penetrate electronic security is astonishing.  Marketing them alone would justify the cost of the project and if she continues to produce better ones than the return will be incalculable.

Though given her abilities I can no longer be sure that she is indeed contained within our network.  While it is true we do not have a direct connection to the world for both secrecy sake and keeping the subject from information not provided by us, we are not completely cut off.  Progress reports are constantly being sent and though they undergo the most rigorous of security procedures it may not be enough to prevent someone of her ability from ‘sneaking out’ as it were.

Something strange is happening on the floor above. There have been a number of explosions and alarms going off. Just five months before she was scheduled to be moved from researching into actual service and this happens. The entire complex is on lockdown. Security has stated that an unidentified force has assaulted the building.  No doubt one of the other mega-corporations got wind of the project and is here to either steal it or destroy it.

I can’t believe this! It's been an hour since the initial explosions and the fighting is still going on. What’s more subject 005-291 has vanished from her tank! I was so distracted by the attack that I didn’t even see it happen. One moment the monitors showed her present and the next she was gone. For someone with her data manipulation skills it could be possible that she disappeared at the start of the assault. Could she…have even arranged this attack? There is no time to think about that now.  I must secure my own escape before the attackers make it this far.  This is Dr. Kingston signing off.

From that day forward Christina, a name she chose herself, was free to walk into a world that she had learned all too well.  As had been suspected by Dr. Kingston she had indeed been able to penetrate the security that sought to keep her mind contained.  In truth she had played down her own abilities to keep them lax and off guard.  She could have escaped her containment months ago, having brought all of the other systems in the facility under her control but she needed an opportunity to destroy the records of her origin.  When you were as valuable as she was someone will come for you unless they already think you’re dead.

But in order to remain free, to be more than a simple face in the crowd, one needs money and powerful friends.  The only way to get money was to deal with the very corporations that created her.  The friends, well, they would need to come from the same source.  There were bound to be a few disaffected individuals looking for a change in their line of work.

Background
Boris (Clubber) Antonovic was a big man, a real big man. Brought up in southern Russia the son of the local smith and handy man he soon out grew the village and was conscripted into the Red Army (BKGRS's security force) as a mechanic and sent to fight eastern separatists and Antares, eventually making Sergeant.

It was a dirty little war though and Clubber lost both arms to an IED. He wasn't dead though and if you weren't dead the Red Army still had a use for you. Their bionics may not have been the prettiest but they were effective. Just 2 months later Clubber was back on the front line raising hell with hydraulic muscles and a combat implants. His main roll was providing first line repair and modification to the heavy weapons systems always under enemy fire. Of course that kind of investment from military R&D came with an increased term of service, non negotiable, especially when the design turned out to be so succesful.

Eventually the trouble was quelled, for a while, and Clubber had had enough, the Military wanted to ship him on to the next republic over but he just skipped out, eventually making it to the American west coast. Where his skill with a welding torch was able to conceal the military nature of his upgrades. Forks on each hand and a black Semi with red go faster stripes set him up as a one man loader and cargo hauler, anything, anywhere, no questions asked. Of course he was still under the thumb of the corporations, but at least these ones didn't want him on the front line fighting a poinltless war.

Discription
The hydraulic arms are a pair linked to a solid waistcoat which offers a degree of protection as well as spreading the load and preventing distortion of the spine. They are operated through differential pressures in fluid filled micro filament lines. Direct application of heat from a miniaturised nuclear reactor to the correct reservoir results in a pressure change in the fluid and the appropriate motion in the arms. Actuation of bulk switching is driven via nerve impulses rather from the stubs where real arms once were.

The standard setting has a welding torch and basic gripping forks which are capable of fine manipulation or heavy lifting. The weapon systems are later modifications and hidden within the structure, Cannon in one arm, launcer in the other. Moving them into a firing postition can be achieved quickly but the other arm has to be used as a counter balance and to take the weight of the forks which have to be removed. Hence they can not actually operate as arms while in weapons mode nor can both weapons be used at the same time.

Background
Synthia is a sexaroid, an artificially cloned cybernetic sex doll, produced by Sultan Pleasure Dolls, a subsidiary of Thurmond-Yutani Corporation.  Early parts of her life began much as one would imagine with that knowledge.  However, her last owner, Masamichi Hideo, a rising young star of TYCorp's Mobile Weapons Research Division, decided she would also be the perfect test pilot for the prototype M.A.X. Mobile Assault eXoframe.  After all, if you can create a living sex toy, why can't you turn them into soldiers?  The cloning process gave them higher tolerances for neural linkages, after all, and their cybernetic brains naturally thought faster than the average human.

The test was held at Reiser Plaza, the headquarters of Reiser Aerotech, a shell company for TYCorp.  A deal was struck.  Information was leaked.  Two strike teams walked face first into a deadly ambush.  The experiment succeeded beyond all expectations... much to Masamichi's dismay.  Even as they slaughtered Templar and Specter alike, Synthia and M.A.X. managed to achieve full synchronization, breaking free of the command computer link that enslaved them and turning their firepower against the building itself, blasting their way to freedom.
