*Adds
Handheld Bowel Disruptor to list of Common Weapons... well among crazy gonzo journalists at least.*
Your ground speed should be 25 MPH and your Telekinesis can only do damage by tossing people, with the damage probably varying greatly each time of course. I came to realize while looking over my own rules that technically someone can instantly start mind controlling a Hostile Datamind character with a single skill check at 5 DC less than breaking them when they're already at 'Helpful' stage. Fortunately you're still getting will saves at that point, including circumstance bonuses for avoiding doing stuff that's clearly against your character's wishes. Also the mind control is still very overt until the subject is broken entirely, meaning that up until that point it's going to be pretty obvious as to who's been affected. Now Teeps with the Mind Control power on the other hand, they don't have that problem, so even if it's just PL 6 you're going to be glad before this is over you got that +7 Will save.
Also note what I said above (*looks up...* well, recently at least) that a commlink with extra subjects is only going to work if the entire team also have commlinks with extra subjects - although I'll allow you to access those with Datalink without a recipient commlink or radio hearing of their own - that or an Operator that your Commlink leads directly to who can then patch you on to whoever else with Datamind you want to talk to. Also you're getting at least 5 equipment points each for free to spend on group-related stuff, such as commlinks, so you could spend that instead... or invest your part in the group's headquarters if you're going to get one, or get yourself a nice vehicle if there's some points left.
Otherwise you're good, so just post Kais up whenever.
To be fair, TYCorp probably only views Synthia and M.A.X. as a blip, a failed experiment to terminate if convenient, rather than a true enemy. Masamichi Hideo, OTOH, views them as an embarrassment that cost him a lot of prestige and must be eliminated to salve his own ego.
Which of course brings up the question of how far up the ladder is Hideo? Minor 'corpsman' struggling to make the deadlines, or up and coming rising star expected to be numbered among the Daimyos (regional directors) within a couple of years? How much resources could he bring to bear against you if you were on the other side of the world? How about if he found out Synthia and M.A.X. could be found in the same city he was currently that TYCorp had plenty of holdings and personnel in, would he be able to turn that power towards them or would he still most likely be restricted to his personal projects like M.A.X.?
Well I was thinking of him more in a typical Shadowrunner type scenario where he's basically a criminal already not anything even remotely official like a mercenary. That being said he would need a real reason to join up with this crew if they're being hounded by so many megacorps....I suppose building up an awesome rep wouldn't be good enough since if the team fails he'd be a pariah in the shadow community....
He could have a vested interest in clearing the names of the people involved....maybe a sibling or loved one got framed as well but hunted down and killed and he's looking for the truth about what happened?
Also I was sort of intending for him to fight through his drones basically so having him sit a mile away most of the time meshes with how I saw him handling combat anyway.
The sibling or friend or general revenge scenario would be a decent reason yes. How about if rather them being dead though it's one of the other PCs? I'm not sure if that would actually work with any of the current PCs though and would need another player's agreement to that (and it can't be Synthia or Christina either obviously given that they're both clones... although maybe Subject 005, Christina's 'parent' or donor was someone he knew). As for commanding his drones a mile away, yea that could work, although you're going to have problems the instant a decent hacker shows up given that he can steal control of your drones, you can get it back sure but that could swiftly occupy you and making you unable to perform Operator duties if called upon.
Also as a note unlike Shadowrun there's actually no genuine governments left aside from Megacorps and their security personnel, and as such the law is pretty much what they say it is for the most part even though many of the old world's laws are still kept up in theory and given lip service to at least, making the criminals often the anti-corporation guys, putting such a character already within the team's camp... although likely not to such an extreme point as the Z-Team.
That last option was kinda what I was going for, although I might not have gotten it across as precisely as I could have I suppose due to the fact I left it somewhat open-ended and vague to make it easier to adjust with the ever-shifting group backstory. I figured they either broke him out specifically (dunno why they would, first hand intel of Novatech maybe?) or happened to be there for a mission when a riot/explosion gave him the opportunity to escape, needing allies as going solo in this world would be suicide he joined up.
That's what I figured at the end of my rambling (sorry, just how I think and in case I come to the wrong conclusions I post my entire thought-process just as well). I think the second option will work best, although the first could be a good reason as to why the group would keep Noah on once Christina dug up his entire personal background (within the first five seconds of seeing his face that is if she was within a mile of a net access point, unless he's had extensive facial reconstruction/alteration done, and even then she'd probably find it after a bit longer, you need a lot more than basically 'disgruntled employee' for them to enact the kind of security protocols on the info that would even slow her down). Maybe the biomatrix implant was an experimental process that ended up killing everyone they tried to put it into later, and Novatech wanted to find out why that was and so kept Noah on ice at some research lab for study to figure out what made him compatible and not the others, a research lab the team later raided only to find Noah as well when going through the more important research they were sent to steal.
rgordona;
Only note is that 'Shadowy X' would probably be a DemiGod level guy, if you do the math a God level character is a PL 25+ character (+60 mod minimum to qualify, so at the very least Int 70/IQ 700+ and 30 skill ranks)... there's a very good reason why I said these guys probably don't exist yet. Gods, Demi or otherwise in this world isn't just a geeky term of respect from fellow hackers, it's actually as close to divinity as you can come, a DemiGod can take over everything computerized (so, uh,
everything, from cars to homes, combat cyborgs to corporate execs with mental implants, and automated defences to battlemechs and orbital mass drivers and death rays) in almost an entire megacity at once and manipulate MegaCorporations around and are such incredibly powerful people that none have been positively identified (and in fact there's no clear evidence even a DemiGod actually exist), and a God level hacker could likely do the same to the entire world, or even the entire solar system at once or at least everything he could connect to somehow... Think SKYNET, with all the implications that entails. Just wanted to make that clear... otherwise carry on, you're on a good roll here.
EDIT: The above God-level calcs is with the assumption that no obscure rule or ability that I've overlooked doesn't allow you to ignore PL limits when it comes to either skills or intelligence mods without GM permission, I found a few that could work with GM permission but if I use it it's going to be 'dayfly' Gods, burning out pretty quickly. If there is some other options that I'm overlooking, please do point them out to me.
