This is my take on a yurt.  Probably a little more extravagant than the one we're using though....

Dead on.  and well I will cover other things when I get off work tonight.

I am looking for a suspenseful chase scene not one that people lose their life's belongings.

After not 15' trying to lug the wagon through the snow seemed impractical and the band left it behind in their flight.

Huh So the goal was suspenseful chase scene and not people losing their life's belongings... and the actual result was no chase scene at all and basically losing all belongs. Huh

If this weren't a one-shot I'd be pretty devastated here, especially seeing as how the game hasn't but barely started. That being said, it is a one-shot, so whatever.  Anyway... I need a few pieces of info to come up with a proper mindset/emotional state for my character upon entering the keep. Thadeus himself is likely devasted to some degree, having lost thousands of gold pieces in trade goods (and more importantly the wagon - that'll be hard to replace), with near half his life's total wealth being invested in them (he's basicially ruined). I just need a few more details to know just how dispondant/possibly suicidal he is at the moment.

1. Did we lose the horses too? Is so, did they die on their own, did we off them, or did we just leave 'em to die? - Thadeus has lost horses before (never two at one mind you) but the later two options aren't things he'd generally consent to doing (he hangs out with druid type... so to him animals are people too), thus he'd be in a very aggrivated state if he'd been forced to do so.
2. By leaving the wagon, did we leave everything in it behind? Thadeus' box was secured within the wagon (the box, its contents, and especially the lorebook especially are all priceless and not replaceable in any simple fashion).
3. If they managed to get the box, who carried it? I'm not sure Thadeus could do so and run/forced march at the same time. And if he could, his physical state upon reaching the keep would likely be beyond exhaustion and I'd need to rp him as such.
4. Is the part about the keep needing the supplies from Thadeus' backstory actually true? Thadeus will either be very ashamed and depressed if it is true... or a bit suspicious if it isn't.

Well first off yes you lost the cart.  As a one shot it won't much matter as I will be resupplying you all pretty quickly here.  If I do play out the full campaign the cart will not be lost.  Just left in the snow.

As for any equipment that you wish to carry with you I will allow it.  The box with the book could easily have been carried by Telamon our Giant Blooded Friend, heck one of the horses could carry the box tied to it.  My intention was not to deprive you of your worldly possesions...but speed up the chase.  The horses could have been guided by thier reigns & stabled inthe empty stable with little ado.  These are things that I will more than happily allow to be hand waved.  IE not central to the story.

I will allow you to rp how you get there as you will.  My railroad has pulled into the station.

edit: and I am sorry for the railroad.  I just wanted to get you all into the Keep where the story will really take place.  If this was a full adventure instead of a one shot I would have placed a lot more of that into your hands and let you descide upon leaving the cart & whatnot to yourselves.  If I do run a full adventure and you want to keep Thadeus you will be able to recover the cart.

Alright in I and my children are finally shaking this illness and I will be able to regroup.  I will in the next few days be updating all of my games.

Thank you for your patience.

unkabear, are we dead ducks... or do you want to put things on hiatus maybe? Since we were only really aiming for a one-shot to begin with... I for one will completely understand if circumstances have arisen to prevent the game from continuing.

No I am pulling myself out of a couple of weeks of long hours, but the Wife went out of town with the kids* and I have now a sudden glut of free time.  I am fully intending on getting all of my games back on track if I still have players.  I just got surprised by RL.  Expect a post by tomorrow.  Or I aernt Unkabear!

Just a heads up, I will be leaving Saturday morning for a week long family vacation out in the wilderness, I highly doubt I'll have internet access so feel free to NPC my character as needed until I return.

Okay, I'm going to go ahead and call this one.

Might be interested if it ever revamped or restarted... but two solid months without moving an inch... "He's dead, Jim."

Alright, I am posting this to let everyone know that I will be putting this game away for a bit.  I have tried to muster the willpower to run three games and I am willing to admit that I bit off more than I can chew, so I will be dropping my DM load back to my original game for the time being until I get more comfortable in the DM shoes.  I do apologize for the inconvenience, but I have to be true to myself as well as my players.
